Mostly positive experience

I bought the ExcelFSM Pro for our firm, mostly for the Multi-Company Consolidation Tool. It handles complex data pretty well, and the automated financial statements feature is a real time-saver, which is great. Delivery was instant since it's software. My only minor gripe was that getting the initial trial balance mapping perfectly set up took a bit longer than I expected, even with the tutorials. Customer support was responsive when I had a question about a specific account grouping, so that was a plus. Overall, it's a valuable tool, but expect a small learning curve at the very start.

Solid software, few quirks

My team and I purchased the ExcelFSM Cloud version a couple months back, specifically for its Consolidated Financial Statements capabilities and the GL Drill Down. The ordering process was simple, just a few clicks online. We received the license keys instantly, and installation of the add-in was smooth, compatible with our Office 365 setup. The core functionality, like generating financial statements and drilling down to transaction level, works as advertised and has definitely sped up our month-end close. We also appreciate the Financial Statement Templates; they provided a good starting point. Support responded within a day when we had a question about transferring a license to a new computer. My main observation is that while it's powerful, the interface, though functional, could use a modern refresh. Sometimes, finding a specific option in the menus took a moment. But performance-wise, it's reliable. It's legitimate software for accountants and integrates well with Excel without requiring a separate database connection, which is a huge plus for us. Definitely a solid tool for anyone needing robust financial reporting in Excel.

Pretty handy for my work

So, I tried out the ExcelFSM Standard version a few weeks ago. Honestly, it made putting together financial statements way less of a headache. The GL Drill Down Option was super helpful for checking balances quickly. I thought it might be complicated to set up, but it wasn't bad at all. Felt pretty good about the purchase.

Anyone tried both ExcelFSM and CaseWare? What's the main difference? Is ExcelFSM good enough or should I just go for CaseWare?

R Raj 2 months ago
ExcelFSM is way more integrated directly into Excel, which is a huge plus if you're already living in spreadsheets. CaseWare is more of its own beast with a steeper learning curve, IMO.

Depends on what you need. ExcelFSM is fantastic for F/S generation directly from trial balance within Excel. CaseWare is a whole suite, much bigger scope for audit and engagement management. For just financial reporting, FSM is probably more nimble and less costly.

Is there usually a Black Friday sale for ExcelFSM? Trying to figure out if I should wait to buy or just grab it now.

P Paula 2 months ago
Nah, I've never seen them do a Black Friday thing. Their deals are usually more about multi-licenses or renewals.

Don't hold your breath for a Black Friday deal. They're not really a 'discount' kind of company, more 'try it for free then buy if you love it'.

How quick is the download and installation for ExcelFSM? I need to get this running ASAP for a client project, hoping it's not a huge hassle.

T Todd Hughes 2 months ago
It's an Excel add-in so it's super quick, like minutes. Not a huge download at all.

Pretty straightforward. Just download, open Excel, and activate it through the add-ins menu. You'll be up and running in no time, honestly.

Thinking about getting ExcelFSM for my small accounting firm. Do they do any discounts for multiple users or like, if we renew our licenses next year?

C Chris Foster 2 months ago
They definitely have multi-user discounts, check their site. And yeah, I got a renewal discount last year, so they do exist.

Afraid you probably won't find many coupons floating around for initial purchases, but they are pretty good with renewal stuff if you stick with them. And definitely ask about firm pricing.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows if ExcelFSM works well on a Mac? Or is it more of a Windows thing? Don't want to buy it if it's gonna be buggy.

M Megan 2 months ago
Yeah, I use it on my Mac with Excel for Mac and it's totally fine. Just make sure your Office 365 is up to date.

I think it's mostly PC-centric, but I've heard of people running it through virtual machines on Mac if they really need to. Might be worth checking their compatibility info.
